The Social Gathering Company FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions

Why have I joined yet another WhatsApp group?

One word: connection (…okay, maybe a few more).
We’re here to bring brilliant humans together — online and in real life. Between us (Karl, Sham, and Nicci) we have collected friendships like Pokémon through places like Camp Wildfire, You Me Bum Bum Train, and Solo Adventurers. Now we’re sharing that magic with anyone who fancies making new mates, having a laugh, and maybe even winning a prize or two.

So, what actually happens on a weekend?

We will typically run 3-night adventures (Friday–Monday).
Daytimes (Sat & Sun): You’ll throw yourself into the main themed challenge — it could be mystery, mischief, or mayhem. On a Traitors-style weekend, that means Challenges, Banishments, and “Murders” (the fun kind, not the police kind).
Evenings: Expect parties, quizzes, board games, bingo, or other shenanigans.
So… who’s behind The Social Gathering Company, and what’s the big idea?
Meet Sham, Nicci, and Karl – three strangers-turned-friends who met at events like the ones we’ll be running.
Sham’s the organiser and has experience hosting game-filled weekends inspired by TV-style challenges. Nicci’s the socialising queen who can befriend anyone in under five minutes. Karl’s got acting skills, a knack for planning, and enough project know-how to run a small country.
Together, we’re cooking up immersive weekends where you’ll meet brilliant humans, forge genuine friendships, and dive headfirst into games, mystery, and the occasional “did that just happen?” moment. Not just meet-ups – memory-makers.

What sort of people turn up?

Lovely, like-minded folk who are up for a laugh. For now, we’re inviting our friends from Camp Wildfire, You Me Bum Bum Train, and Solo Adventurers — communities full of adventurous, welcoming humans.

Can I come solo? Or do I need to bring a crew?

Come alone, come in a pair, come as a fully formed gang — it’s all good. Many will rock up solo and leave with an entirely new friendship circle. We’re very good at making everyone feel at home.

Where are these shindigs happening?

Across the UK. We’ll spill the location tea when each event goes live.

When’s the first event being announced?

September. Mark it in your diary — or better yet, keep your phone glued to this group.

How many people will be there?

Depends on the weekend. Our first one will be around 50–60 people — enough for a great vibe, not so many you get lost in the crowd.

I just want to watch the drama unfold — is that allowed?

Absolutely. Grab a spectator ticket and enjoy the show from the sidelines. We intend to have spectator tickets available for most but not all events. You’ll still get all the evening socials without having to run around pretending to be a spy.

What kind of things will we actually do?

Think team challenges, mystery-solving, creative chaos, and the occasional dash of friendly competition — with plenty of time to lounge, laugh, and chat over a drink.

How much is it?

Most weekends will be £150–£200 per participant, with cheaper “spectator” tickets. Price usually covers the whole shebang — activities, accommodation, and prizes. Some events may include food. We’ll always list exactly what’s included so there are no nasty surprises (only fun ones).

Do winners get prizes?

Of course! Cash or Social Gathering Company vouchers to use towards the another event— plus bragging rights until the next event.

Is everything in person?

Yep — we’re all about real-life connection. But we might throw in the odd online catch-up for fun.

What’s the accommodation like?

Think comfy, sociable, and affordable. Most weekends are shared rooms so you can get to know your fellow legends.

Do I need to be super fit?

Not at all. We design weekends for all abilities. There’s a mix of mental and light physical activities, and you can join in at your own pace.

Age limit?

18+ unless we say otherwise.
