Gameplay Overview: The Gathering Traitors

Inspired by the TV show, this immersive game pits Faithfuls against Traitors:

  • Players are secretly divided into Traitors and Faithfuls

  • Traitors know who each other are; Faithfuls do not

  • Faithfuls try to uncover and banish the Traitors

  • Traitors secretly “murder” Faithfuls between challenges

  • The game ends when either all Traitors are gone (Faithfuls win), or any remain (Traitors win)

Prize Pot for the Winner(s):

Challenges throughout the weekend will add real cash to the prize pot. Winners take the prize at the end! Prize money will be up to £230 per Gathering Traitors game based on 23 players.

Concerned About Gameplay or Anxiety?

  • The game can be emotionally intense (lying, deception, accusation)

  • Remember: it’s all part of the fun – nothing is personal, it's about connecting you socially to new friends, the game is second to that!

  • If you feel this might be too much, we suggest attending as a spectator, where you can enjoy the full social aspect of the weekend without pressure

How Are Roles Assigned?

  • After all bookings are confirmed, you’ll receive a Google Form

  • You can express a preference to be a Traitor or Faithful

  • Requests are considered, but not guaranteed

  • If you opt not to be a Traitor, you won’t be assigned one—but you could still be recruited later in the game

Gameplay Logistics

  • Two separate games run concurrently

  • Max 23 players per game

What happens if I'm eliminated?

  • Banished or murdered players become spectators

  • You can still take part in challenges and watch banishments

What’s the daily schedule like?

  • Most likely 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Saturday & Sunday

  • Expect 3 challenges per day plus banishments/murders

  • Evening social events and breaks throughout

What if I don’t want to get up at 9AM?

  • Early starts are essential to the game timeline if you don’t attend the first game that could impact the overall experience for other players.

  • If you can’t commit to this, we recommend joining as a spectator

Gameplay Etiquette

  • Don’t share your role with other players (except close friends not in your game)

  • Don’t discuss the game with active players if you’ve been eliminated

  • Once “murdered or banished”, consider yourself “out” and stay silent about gameplay

  • Spectators must also respect game secrecy

Challenges

  • A mix of physical and mental games

  • Accessible roles available in every challenge (no one will be excluded)

How Murders Work

  • Players go to rooms while Traitors meet in a private area

  • A chosen victim will receive a letter

  • The murder is revealed on the player board

  • No peeking, listening, or disrupting gameplay!

How Banishments Work

  • Group discussion around a table (~20–30 minutes)

  • Secret vote via whiteboards

  • Person with most votes is banished

  • Ties = re-vote between tied players

  • Spectators can watch

Evening Socials

  • Friday: Group quiz challenge + pizza night + games/music

  • Saturday: Themed party night to be announced in November

  • Sunday: Chill board game night & group social

PA/Carer Tickets

Unfortunately, for this event, we aren’t able to provide Personal Assistant or Carer tickets.

We’ve spent a huge amount of time looking into this and trying to make this work. However, for this event and the way the game play works, there is no way for us to feasibly offer this in a way that would be truly beneficial to those who need it, without impacting the overall experience.

What we ARE committed to doing is ensuring we always consider this for every future event we run, and will always do our best to enable this as an option.

Accommodation: Room Details & Allocation

The venue has 23 en-suite bedrooms, each equipped with a private shower and toilet.

We aim to provide comfortable and fair room allocations for all guests, with specific attention to accessibility needs, group preferences, and room layout limitations. Here's what you need to know:

General Room Information

  • All rooms are en-suite

  • All rooms will be shared, with varying occupancy depending on layout

  • Room allocations will be confirmed closer to the event, based on the information you provide in a Google Form (released in November)

  • Due to the logistics of the game, players who you share a room with WILL NOT be in the same game as you.

  • There can only be a maximum of 2 players per room, regardless of how many people are allocated to that room. Any additional people assigned to larger rooms will be spectators

In that form, we’ll ask for:

  • Accessibility requirements

  • Who you are attending with

  • Room sharing preferences

While we’ll do our best to accommodate all requests, priority will be given to accessibility and medical needs. Please note that specific room allocations cannot be guaranteed.
